Tom Christiansen’s interest in metal work was sparked at an early age while watching his uncle Bob weld on farm equipment in rural Nebraska. In grade school he developed an interest in art. In high school he was encouraged to put the two interests together with sculpture. Tom attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and graduated with a BFA from the University of Minnesota.
A variety of jobs in industry and the arts led Tom to become a self-employed artist in the 1980s. In the 1990s Tom built Last Chance Fabricating LLC, a sculpture studio, bronze-casting facility, foundry and gallery. In the ensuing years Tom has pursued his personal art work for showing in galleries and has worked collaboratively with designers, architects, business groups, committees and individuals to create unique pieces for different needs and purposes.
